@christopher @thomas Please keep in mind that #Purism only earns one time money from the purchase. They are not harvesting your private information to sell it.
A lot of work goes into development, also of free and open source software (FOSS). With a purchase you would support all of this.

@Christopher @Jan Vlug 🌱 🐷 🤍❤️🤍 💙💛 @Papa Dragon I enjoy using my Librem 5 and I’m tempted to get another one for family. There really isn’t a better alternative to Apple or Android and most people need to understand that they are leading society down some dystopian paths. It’s far from perfect, but Librem 5 can get you by.

@Christopher I have a work phone that a use a bit too, but I do use the Librem pretty often. I keep saying that I’m going to put a SIM card in it, but haven’t had the need yet. I use SIP for calls, XMPP for texts, Tootle for ActivityPub stuff, FoxtrotGPS for maps.

I was looking at that phone last week, but I found a show-stopper in the FAQ: "Note that some carriers do not allow devices on their networks unless devices are approved by themselves."

Specifically, Verizon's network, which I need, does not seem to accept this phone.

I'll probably have to get a new phone on my next trip to the US. (They're so much cheaper there.) Would love to get something more privacy respecting. "We'll be watching your experience with great interest."
